Not perfectly timed.

Not perfectly planned.

Just LIVE. 

Getting here took longer than we thought…it’s been a long ride!!

It involved a bit more learning than we expected, and a few reality checks along the way.

That is the unfiltered truth of entrepreneurship & starting a small independent brand.

GET DUCK’D!!® started with one simple idea - we wanted gift shopping to be fun, original, and stress-free. After countless nights figuring out what people actually want from a gift, we realised most stores play it safe, leaving out creativity and personality. Our positioning is clear: we stand against the predictable, formulaic gift market, and aim to give people experiences worth remembering.

The Reality Nobody Sees.

From the outside, launching a brand looks simple:

Pick products.

Build a site.

Open the doors.

In reality it’s a different story:

• A full Planning & Concept Design process

• Finding the right suppliers

• Samples that are ‘almost’ right but not perfect

• Packaging tweaks that suddenly feel crucial

• Creative obstacles you didn’t anticipate

• Physical and logistical hurdles

• Life itself getting in the way - deadlines, daily chaos, unexpected interruptions

• Costs you didn’t predict, and decisions you never thought about making

• Wrangling back and forth with the folk at the trademark office (NIGHTMARE!!)

There’s no complete roadmap.

No exact blueprint.

No one has done exactly what we’re doing.

Every choice - creative or operational - has required trial, error, and a bit of stubbornness from time to time…

GET DUCKD (AkA Get Ducked) is the first of its kind!!

It’s not just planning, designing, and building the creative side.

There’s also the less glamorous stuff:

Marketing.

Social media.

Networking.

Managing orders.

Keeping up with suppliers.

Stock control.

Business admin.

Launching an original independent brand means juggling all these balls, every single day.

And of course, there are the things we can’t tackle alone - finding the right people to help us and make our ideas a reality (big shoutout to Rik Barwick).

Every choice, every decision is about keeping the brand’s personality and ethos intact, while still making it work in the real world.

It’s a real learning curve.

Delays and setbacks were part of the journey - but that’s what makes building something original worth it.

It's all about highs, lows...and lot's of uncertainty.

It's stressful, and time consuming (but quite fun too).

Sometimes life is just about taking a risk, and stepping outside of your comfort zone - trying something different!!

We wanted to create something a little different. Something with humour, personality, and a bit of attitude.

Traditional gift shopping can be painstaking, overwhelming, and totally forgettable. GET DUCK’D!!® solves this by offering products with real personality, collectability, and originality. Whether it’s a solo rubber duck or a limited edition mug set, every release is designed to delight both the giver and the receiver – making the experience enjoyable, memorable, and meaningful.

Any seemingly simple object can be memorable if it’s done right.

The ‘Fuelled by Chaos & Caffeine’ line became our unofficial motto. Some of the best ideas come from tired brains and strong coffee. There were nights when the direction wasn’t clear, ideas felt messy, and the only consistency was the mug getting refilled. 

Eventually, it clicked. The thing powering the ideas…was part of the idea itself.

Not Your Typical Duck Store

The ‘traditional’ duck shops play it safe - cute, soft, and fluffy.

Nothing wrong with that, but it’s not us.

We wanted:

Colour.

Personality.

Edge.

Originality.
